Stephen Ward makes a graceful exit from Miller County Sheriff's Race - Could he get a job with Sarah Huckabee Sanders?

Jun 22, 2022

Stephen D. Ward may have been bested in the race for Miller County Sheriff by Wayne Easley on Tuesday night. But he was magnanimous in his campaign exit and wished success for his opponent.

Ward finished first on May 24, 2022, with Wayne Easley in second place and Mark Lewis in third. However, the top two positions were reversed in the runoff on June 21. Click here to read Easley's reaction to his win.

Ward responds to second-place finish

Stephen Ward remained steadfast as he broke the news to his supporters:

"The votes are tabulated, and it appears that we have lost this election," Ward said. "Thank you to all who supported, encouraged, and prayed for us. I wish the new administration the very best and will continue praying for Miller County."

He continued: "Miller County is in my heart and is a special place. Thank you all so very much. Please love your family, friends, and neighbors. We still can move Miller County forward by working together!"

The optimistic tone and radiant energy made Stephen D. Ward a compelling candidate and a first-place finisher in the May 24, 2022 election.

But as predicted in an article following the May 24  race, the person with the endorsement of Mark Lewis would have a good chance of winning the runoff. Click here to read. And sadly for Ward, that was Easley.

The Huckabee's love him

Stephen Ward had big-name backing of his own, including endorsements from Mike Huckabee and Sarah Huckabee Sanders.

It is indeed possible that Ward could find himself playing a role in a new Sanders administration, and former Gov. Mike Huckabee's glowing endorsement also showed he is a favorite of the Huckabee family.

Besides handing out jobs, a new Governor also appoints qualified citizens to more than 250 boards and commissions.

Character matters

Stephen D. Ward has won praise for being an honorable Christian man and an excellent lawman from people around the state.

And his classy exit from the Miller County Sheriff's race will only enhance his reputation.
