Arkansas Republican gubernatorial nominee Sarah Huckabee Sanders has endorsed Stephen D. Ward for Miller County Sheriff.
It is an endorsement that could upend the race for Miller County Sheriff.
In a video endorsement, Sanders said: "Miller County is my childhood home, and it is important to me to see it remain safe and secure. That is why I am supporting Stephen Ward for Sheriff."
"I look forward to working with Stephen as we maintain law in order in Miller County and across Arkansas," she added. "Join me in supporting Stephen ward in the Republican primary runoff on June 21."
A coveted endorsement
Support for candidates from Sarah Huckabee Sanders has been widely sought after. She has been credited with turning undecided voters toward John Boozman in the race for US Senate against Jan Morgan, Jake Bequette, and Heath Loftis.
Political analysts say Sarah Huckabee Sander's heartfelt 30-second TV ad added at least a few points to Boozman's margin of victory.
Ward vs. Easley
Ward is taking on Wayne Easley after the two candidates took out third-place finisher Mark Lewis in the Republican primary preference election held on May 24, 2022. Lewis has endorsed Easley.
