Texarkana Water Utilities has immediately announced a boil order for a section of Texarkana, Arkansas.
UPDATE: As of 9/14/22 at 12:52 am - Water boil order still in effect.
Texarkana, Arkansas, residents east of East St., south of East 9th St., west of Pinehurst St., and north of Pearl Street have been issued a Precautionary Boil Water Notice.
Due to a loss in normal system pressure, there is a possibility that contaminated water may enter the distribution system. In addition, due to a broken flange on a water main and a total coliform-positive sample on Siebert and Washington, a boil water order was issued.
A 'Boil Water' order requires that all affected customers be informed that the water may be unsafe for human consumption and that all drinking water and food preparation water must be boiled vigorously for one (1) minute before use. You should discard all ice cubes and only use boiled water to make ice.
This "precautionary boil water notice" will remain in effect until the problem has been corrected, an adequate disinfectant level is established throughout the distribution system, and a bacteriological survey shows that the water is safe to drink.
