New scholarship established for local college students

A new scholarship is being established at the University of Arkansas Hope-Texarkana after a generous donation from the Hope branch of the First National Bank of Tom Bean.

The bank branch was celebrating #GivingTuesday in their donation of $25,000 UA Hope-Texarkana foundation, and it will create the First National Bank of Tom Bean-Hope Branch Endowed Scholarship.

The branch manager said she was excited to provide support for future students.

"This scholarship will help improve the lives of an untold number of students, and those students, in turn, will help make our community a better place to live and work," said Joan Hardee, branch manager.

FNB of Tom Bean began in 1906 as a community bank, but it has grown to be a successful local banking institution.
