Country super-group Diamond Rio was impressed with by the large and excited crowd along with the size of Hope watermelons.
The famed musicians entertained local country music fans with their catalog of country music hits at one of the Ark-La-Tex's most significant events Saturday.
The group was in town to headline the annual Hope Watermelon Festival, which was again a huge success after the hard work of local citizens.
Ironically, Diamond Rio's 1998 album "Unbelievable" features a huge watermelon on its cover, and some speculate that this might have brought the famed country group to the mind of event organizers in Hope."Diamond Rio was unbelievable," said one fan who attended the concert. "They still sound awesome. 30 years together and they still are super entertainers."
The band has been a mainstay in county music for decades, and the group's hits include "Sawmill Road," "Beautiful Mess," and "Love a Little Stronger."
