Three cheers for Nicole Brisco, the well-liked art teacher at Pleasant Grove High School in Texarkana.
Her hard work is vital to the artistic development of so many talented students, and she was named "Ford Texas Tribute Teacher."
During the summer, Brisco was one of six teachers featured on Youtube (with over 700,000 views) and on the Texas Ford Cares website. Each year, Ford honors some of the state’s most passionate teachers by sharing stories and what they love about educating Texas’s upcoming generations.
“It was a great honor and surprise to be recognized by the Ford company,” Brisco said. “Not only was it a way to highlight art education and its importance, but it also showcased what our students do at PGHS."
Brisco has been in education and at Pleasant Grove ISD for 22 years. During this time, she has received the TRAHC Arts in Education Hero Award, SFA Art Educator of the Year, Texas State Secondary Art Educator of the Year and Texas State Humanities Art Educator of the Year.
"I am thankful for the awards and honors I have received over the years," she said. "But I am especially thankful for this opportunity to share our classroom with so many people across the country.”
And we're grateful, too.
The entire Texarkana community is a better place because of talented teachers and mentors like Nicole Brisco.
