Damian Coats' passing touches all Texas Tigers — but now his family needs our help

The unexpected death of Damian Coats, a soft spoken but very friendly Texas High School football player, has left his friends, loved ones and our community stunned and heartbroken.

The 6'2" Tiger football player (#77) has been a beloved young man in the community.  He is also the cousin of Tiger defensive backs coach Justin Coats.

The coach reached out to social media to share a GoFundMe page that will help Damian's immediate family cover funeral expenses. At the bottom of this page, you will find a direct link to donate to the family online.

The family wrote a few words on the GoFundMe page. The statement read: "We are saddened to say that Damian Coats life came to a end on June 20th of 2019. The cause of his passing is still unknown and very heart breaking to the family."

The family statement said that Damian was very soft spoken and kind to everyone he ever met. His family also wrote that he had a love of football and spending time at home with his little brother and sisters.

Additionally, the family mentions that like most young men his age, there is no funeral insurance and costs could reach $10,000 or more.

Our heart aches for the family of Damian Coats and all his friends around the Texarkana area and beyond. Let's show the community spirit of our area by helping the family reach or exceed the financial goal in honor of this fine young man who has left his friends and family way too soon.
