Pleasant Grove's Nicole Brisco and Melissa Manning guide exceptional art and writing students to huge awards haul

After continued sports success in the last two years, schools from around the Ark-La-Tex region have another reason to be envious of Pleasant Grove High School as students bagged more than sixty National Scholastic Art and Writing awards - with lots of help from the art department's Nicole Brisco and Melissa Manning.

The PG students competed in two difficult levels of judging by the western national division and still managed to come away big winners.

The Scholastic competition is well known as one of the most prestigious art competitions in the USA and past winners have even included luminaries such as Zac Posen, Robert Redford, Sylvia Plath, Steven King and even Andy Warhol.

Now, Texarkana and the Pleasant Grove community can congratulate our local students on this very prestigious award:

Gold: Natalie Hale, Victoria Haley, Cara Anne Court, Chloe Carpenter, Brooklynn Bearden, Peyton Adams and Iris Rivera

Silver: Madison Ethridge, Chloe Carpenter, Mason Burrow, Peyton Adams, Carleigh Scates, Ann Elise Lindsay, Avery McEvoy, Kelly Nguyen, Jacob Oliver, Ryan Pickelman, Anil Pournouri and August Riggs, Emma Sanderson, Gabe Smith and Kristen Key.
