They are calling it "More Money. More Fish" for good reason. That's because the Hot Springs Fishing Challenge on Lakes Hamilton and Catherine is back. The money is bigger than ever, and entry is FREE with a valid Arkansas fishing license.
The organizers have tagged 71 fish and released them into the lakes by the Andrew Hulsey Fish Hatchery of the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission. The event is sponsored by Visit Hot Springs. The challenge just started and will end at 5 pm on July 31. If you catch a tagged fish, you'll win a prize. It's that easy... and it's free with a valid Arkansas fishing license.
The $15,000 prize is for "Big Al," and he will be your golden ticket if you catch him. The fish will be tagged and released at undisclosed locations, and the prize distribution is as follows:
- $15,000 1
- $5,000 4
- $1,000 46
- $500 20
ArkLaTex News will be tallying the winners and reporting which prizes remain.
According to Visit Hot Springs: "The fish released will be largemouth bass, bluegill, channel catfish, white bass, crappie, and walleye. The tags will have a phone number and a prize number on them. If a fish is caught the angler must call the number and present the fish with the tag attached."
Clues will be given out in June and July if "Big Al" is not caught by then. So get to fishing and get to winning with a great day out on beautiful Lake Hamilton and Lake Catherine.
