The Air Force has increased its focus on readiness for rapid deployment and sustainment capability. During the Combat Hammer exercise last year Maj. Ellen Williams, 2nd Aircraft Maintenance Squadron operations officer, said:
“Combat Hammer is different from other exercises as it tests and evaluates the complete chain of the weapons system from the munitions storage facility, to the aircraft, to the target. The results measure our level of effectiveness.”
Airmen from across the wing participated in end-to-end evaluations to assess proficiency in all areas, from the Airmen who built the bombs to the Airmen who dropped them.
Combat Hammer measured the wing's effectiveness and lethality in combat by evaluating the wing's ability to produce, load, and deploy conventional weapons.
