Jake Bequette campaign FILLED with Washington insiders & the SAME campaign treasurer as Mitt Romney

Apr 14, 2022

Jake Bequette claims to be a political "outsider" who will save Arkansas from the "swamp" of Washington, D.C.

However, Federal Election Commission quarterly reports submitted in 2022 reveal that Arkansas U.S. Senate candidate Jake Bequette and Sen. Mitt Romney of Utah have the exact same person as campaign Treasurer.

Federal Election Commission (FEC) filings by the campaign committees "Bequette for Arkansas" and "Romney for Utah" both list the campaign Treasurer as Bradley Crate (aka Bradley T. Crate) of Massachusetts.

What was he thinking?

The position of Treasurer is critical in any political campaign.

For almost all Arkansas campaign committees, the role of the Treasurer is given to a trusted, in-state person - often a Certified Public Accountant.

But Jake Bequette chose a non-CPA, Mitt Romney loyalist from the Boston, MA area, to be his Treasurer and his Custodian of Records.

This information came from Bequette for Arkansas' Statement of Organization report filed with the FEC on July 12, 2021. Click here to read.

Meet one of Mitt Romney's closest advisors

Bradley Crate is not just another name on an office door to Mitt Romney. Instead, he is one of Romney's oldest and most trusted political allies.

Mr. Crate became Mitt Romney's political operations director in 2002 during his race for governor. He was later the Romney administration's policy director in Massachusetts.

Not only that, Crate was Chief Financial Officer for Romney's 2012 presidential campaign and was described by Romney's staff as an expert in " financial and operational outsourcing."

Yes, you read that right. Jake Bequette's campaign Treasurer and Custodian of Records is CURRENTLY Mitt Romney's campaign Treasurer. Bradley Crate also served as Mitt Romney's political operations director as Massachusetts governor and  CFO of Romney-Ryan 2012 presidential campaign.

To top it all off, Crate is an expert in "outsourcing."

Bequette uses Washington, D.C. area banks

Since he describes himself as an "outsider," you might think that Jake Bequette's campaign bank accounts are located in Little Rock or somewhere else in Arkansas. But they aren't.

Jake Bequette's primary banking institution is an "insider" bank with only one branch called Chain Bridge Bank in McLean, Virginia.

Chain Bridge is just 10 miles from Washington, D.C. It is the go-to bank for political committees and lobbying firms.

Bequette's FEC filings also list banking fees at First Virginia Community Bank - another D.C. area bank with branches in Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, D.C.

Bequette's pro fundraiser is located in the D.C. metro area

Paige Marriott of the Marriott Group (not to be confused with the hotel chain) is Jake Bequette's fundraising consultant in Leesburg, Virginia - just 33 miles from Washington D.C.

Marriott also has Utah connections (just like Bequette's Treasurer), and she is a graduate of Brigham Young University.

In her mid-twenties, Jake Bequette's fundraiser began raising funds for anti-Trump, former California congresswoman Mary Bono (widow of Sonny Bono). In 2016, she worked for the presidential campaign of Never Trumper John Kasich.

Jake Bequette's law firm has an office near the White House

FEC filings by Jake Bequette show his campaign chose Chalmers & Adams as his law firm.

The firm has an office on Pennsylvania Avenue and offices in Georgia and Pennsylvania.

It advertises as "Political Law Services for Corporations, Political Committees, Candidates and Lobbyists Litigation Services."

Chalmers & Adams would not be the usual choice of law firm for a political outsider.

Bequette reimbursed himself 35k for research from DC area polling firm

In February 2021, when Jake Bequette was supposedly doing charity work for small businesses, he spent almost $35,000 of his own money with a polling firm called Basswood Research.

This pricey research firm is located just 7 miles from Washington, D.C., in Bethesda, Maryland.

After the 33-year-old Bequette filed to run for office, the Bequette for Arkansas campaign committee repaid Jake Bequette the whopping $35,000 he originally spent on research from what he calls the "swamp" of Washington, D.C.

Even today, Jake Bequette continues to brag about the "charity" work he was doing in February-March 2021 as part of what he calls his "sacrifice" to public service - even though it seems to be little more than additional research for his campaign.

Of course, it was also a way for Bequette to travel around the state collecting names of donors, speaking to business leaders, and attracting positive newspaper and TV coverage without the level of scrutiny a political candidate would receive.

More Utah connections and another D.C. area consultant

Besides the Washington, D.C. area, Jake Bequette's campaign has many Utah connections.

So you might be wondering if Bequette is a Mormon -  like the man with whom he shares a campaign Treasurer, Mitt Romney?

He's not. Jake Bequette is Catholic - not a member of the LDS church.

However, Bequette did peculiarly pay a Utah political consultant (Jesse Ranney) tens of thousands of dollars for political consulting in 2021.

Bequette also paid Red Sea LLC from the D.C. area (Bethesda) for consulting on advertising.

Jake Bequette goes to the "swamp"

Throughout the campaign, Jake Bequette has told Arkansas voters he is a Washington, D.C., outsider.

And he has continued to lie about entering the military after he finished playing professional football.

After his football career ended, Bequette actually chose to go to what he calls the "swamp" of Washington, D.C. Of course, you have never heard him mention it.

He attended law school at the "swampiest" law school in America - Georgetown. But you have not heard him mention that, either.

Shockingly, Bequette even told voters on his campaign website biography that he joined the Army in 2015 - but it was really August 2017.

That bold lie led to an allegation of "stolen valor" against Jake Bequette in July 2021 by a Department of Defense source of the conservative website National File.

And the false date also conveniently covered up his time in the "swamp" and made it appear that he had served longer than he had in the military.

Think about it

The next time you see a slick, 30-second ad from Jake Bequette on Fox News, you should know that the advertising consultant that likely created it is knee-deep in the D.C. "swamp."

Also, Jake Bequette was bitten by the desire to go to Washington, D.C. in his late twenties during the Obama administration. He is only 33 today.

Now, he wants Arkansas voters to send him BACK to his friends and golfing buddies in Washington, D.C., to supposedly "change" a system in which he is already deeply entrenched.

Thankfully, Arkansas voters can smell a young swamp creature from a mile away.
